For 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide, 20% of which live in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month of the year. Observed by Muslims with a 30-day period of sacrificial fasting, it culminates with the feasting and celebrations of Eid-al-Fitr.

As it follows the lunar cycle, Ramadan rotates by 10 or 11 days each year. This year, it is expected to commence on the evening of Wednesday 22nd March, and end in the evening of Friday 21st April.

For Muslim communities, Ramadan is a season of prayerfulness, reflection, generosity and spending time with loved ones – much like Christmastime for Christians and many secular communities in the West. With spirituality heightened in the MENA during this time, we are taking the opportunity to commit to 30 days of focused intercession for the region and our ministry.
